This picture is of a picture of a man holding a globe in his hand. He is looking very professional with a suit on. This is trying to say, the world is on your hands. And the future is what you make it. To achieve this photo, they might have used focus to blur the background out and put the main subject (the yellow billboard) in focus. This will catch the audience’s eye because the size of the billboard is huge so therefore it would stand out. Also the fact that the majority of the billboard is yellow, that will also catch the people walking attention, as it is a very bright colour. Also the writing on the billboard is also gigantic, and in bold white writing so it catches the viewers focus too. These images promote a service. These images are seen on the street on billboards, or even newspapers.

This picture is selling a cultural lifestyle. It is the Asian way of dressing. To capture this photo, you’d have to expand the white balance, and also focus the main subject in, so the viewers know it’s the dress, worn by the lady is the main subject. You see these images in fashion magazines, magazines that try selling a different culture or even a cultural way of dressing. You would also see these images in a catalogue, catalogues that work for fashion companies that sell cultural clothes.

To capture this photo, the photographer would have had to change the brightness on this photo to a much darker setting. This captures the misty side of this photo, which is shown around the edges of this photo. The dark depth of field is interesting because it tells you that the photo was taken at sunset. The depth of field shows us the amount of time there is between sunset and the actual morning. The sand around the photo is still visible, although there is darkness around it. Just like surroundings in reality during sunset, although there is darkness everything is still visible. These kinds of images, you would see in holiday brochures or leaflets that advertise holidays for glamorous places.

This photo was taken in high contrast black and white, in typical documentary. The photographer would have had to change the focus a little bit, so that the main focus is on the card held by the lady. Also, if you look carefully, the people behind the lady have also got cards and words are written on them. The meaning behind this is that we should always treat others the way we want to be treated. Also we should never treat others differently just because of their situation, whether that be financial, ethnicity or age because at the end of the day, we all have 3 meals a day and sleep in one bed. The photographer of this photo isn’t named. You would see this images in a documentary, documentaries about life issues or events. These are not photos you see everyday, so it makes you wonder what the hidden message is behind this.

Background

My inspiration was the book ‘Wiseguy’ written by Nicholas Pileggi’s, which was made into a film by Martin Scorsese, called ‘Goodfellas’. Although I do not condone violence and the life these guys lived, I’m focusing on the fashion and the clothes a Wiseguy used to wear. Wiseguy’s were to wear 3 piece suits to resemble a statement of power, and they wanted you to know that they were a class above you. I am also fascinated by the fact that Wiseguy’s used to believe that if you didn’t wear a suit, you wasn’t a proper wiseguy.

Scenario

My intended message is to show the attitude of a wiseguy. Most of us weren’t old enough to remember the classic gangster films such as Francis Ford Coppala’s Godfather series, or ‘Goodfellas’, or Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Untouchables’. But all the characters were dressed in linen suits and that’s how I want my models to look. I want my models sitting at a table, facing each other, with a cigarette in both of their hands. Also, they will put their feet up o their tables. This shows their arrogance and how they thought they were untouchable. Also, their will be people who aren’t dressed as wiseguys there, to show the difference in between

My Intended Objective

I want people to see what a wiseguy is, and how they went about during their time as a made man in a crime family. Its definitely going to have mob based theme, so I want people to know how they dress and how they act.

Target audience

The audience is the younger generation, because most of them wouldn’t be familiar with the whole mob based fashion. I want them to see how wiseguy’s were just like the pictures above

Schedule and Budget

I booked the equipment that college provide on Wednesday. I had booked a Canon. I plan to shoot Thursday morning as I have a long break between 10.30 and 1. Also I booked the studio, which is the location for my photo shoot. This shoot is budget free. There’ll be no need for any props or costumes as my actor have already got them.  Therefore, my photo shoot is budget free.

Mission Statement

My mission is to re-explore a lifestyle that was left behind. Although I do not condone the life a wiseguy lived, I do find it fascinating how they went about their daily life and how they used to dress, their whole attitude towards rest of the society. I want the younger generation to see what a wiseguy looked like during their time as a wiseguy. I hope to complete this mission.
